Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the Malacca Planetarium is scheduled to open tomorrow.

He said the planetarium was equipped with the latest astronomy technology provided by Pico International (M) Sdn Bhd, costing RM2.4mil.

Besides attracting those keen to learn more about the beauty and secrets of the universe, the planetarium would also enable researchers from various institutions of higher learning to conduct experiments, he added.

He said the state was considering imposing an entrance fee of RM10 for adults, with a discount for children and students.

The planetarium is built on the site of the 4ha roundabout located at the MITC in Ayer Keroh.

It houses a 15m internal dome and also a theatre with a capacity for 250 people.

Currently, there are three other planetariums in the country, namely the National Planetarium in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, the Terengganu Planetarium located at the foothill of Bukit Besar and the RM20mil Al-Khawarizmi Astronomy Complex in Tanjung Bidara, Malacca.
